West Bridgfordians won the toss and elected to field first on what was a cold day for cricket. It was definitely a two sweater day.
Andre Pears opened the batting with Jan Cresswell and Nottinghamshire got off to a nightmare start losing both openers for 5 runs with Jan getting a duck. 2 wickets down for 5 runs after 2 overs which soon became 21 for 3 with Daryl Slater making his debut going for 8 runs.
This then brought Ravi Hundal and Richard Wolfe together who steadied the ship and put on 39 runs before Ravi was caught out scoring 19 runs.
Wolfie went on to score 63 runs with good contributions from the middle order, Oliver Wilcox 11, Liam Savage 16, Thomas Platt 15 and an entertaining 34 from Jordan Slater.
NDCC were eventually all out for 192 off 40.5 overs.
West Bridgfordians went into bat - Nottinghamshire opened the bowling with Cliff Wilson and Thomas Platt who managed to keep the run rate down scoring only 19 runs of the first 8 overs. The captain decide to change the bowling with himself and Jordan Slater bowling and it paid dividends straightaway with Andre Pears taking his first wicket and finishing with figures of 12-2-2-28. The pick of the bowlers was certainly Jordan Slater who finished with excellent figures of 12-4-23-4.
The fielding was excellent today with 3 run outs, 2 from Oliver and 1 from Jordan and no dropped catches!
West Bridgfordians proved to be a stubborn side to bowl out as they eventually finished on 102 for 9 off 45 overs therefore denying Nottinghamshire maximum points for bowling.
Some excellent performances from their young players notably Joe Holding 10-1-18-1 and Faizan Minhas 6.5-1-29-2 and 24 who plays for the county team.
Many thanks to Les Townend for umpiring and West Bridgfordians for their excellent hospitality.
MOM -Richard Wolfe for his excellent 63 after a difficult start and Jordan Slater for his excellent all round display taking 4 wickets, getting 34 runs with the bat and 1 run out.
An excellent start to the season and it was good to see the captain with a smile on his face.😀😬🏏
