Nottinghamshire Deaf 2016 Season

September 30, 2016

After a long break it was good to see Nottinghamshire Deaf CC re-established in 2015. We are now in our second season in Division M after finishing 3rd, achieving promotion from division N in 2015.

We are fortunate to have such competent and hard- working members, especially Barbara Delacy-Savage who has done a fantastic for the NDCC as Secretary.

She has spent a considerable time planning, attending meetings and sorting our registrations of players which has been a mammoth task.  On behalf of the players would like to say a ‘Massive Thank You’ for taking on this job.  She also managed to sort out kit, sponsorship etc. which is very much appreciated. Don’t let us forget that her husband ‘Roly’ has played a big part too along with Liam Savage as treasurer!

On the playing side it has again been a privilege to play with such a great bunch of lads who showed great sportsmanship throughout the season.  Well done lads – We’re proud of you.  Also, we can’t forget Les Townsend for Umpiring which was also very much appreciated by NDCC.

For a first season it has been great to see such wonderful batting performances  notably our captain Andre Pears and Oliver Wilcox who dominated the batting for Division M.

Congratulations to Richard Wolfe who has finished joint first for the wicket keeping award for Division M.

We would like to also say a massive thanks to all the players/supporters who came along to watch or participate in matches especially those who have had to travel from Birmingham, Derby and Mansfield.

The NDCC would like to congratulate the Captain/Vice Captain for such a difficult job in organising and selecting a team for matches. I can assure you that it’s no easy task!

Also congratulations to NDCC for winning the National Club six-a-side competition at Welbeck CC, on Sunday 25th September. Many thanks to Thomas Platt and Oliver Wilcox for organising the team.

On a final note, many thanks to Radcliffe on Trent CC especially Dan Sutton for letting us used their ground and facilities.
